Theatre Costumes on Display at the Maison Jean Vilar, 16501

The Maison Jean Vilar is an iconic venue in the city of Avignon. It houses the archives of Jean Vilar and the Avignon Festival, whilst ensuring the Festival’s year-round presence in our region. Attached to a conservation and research centre run by the Bibliothèque nationale de France, it is one of the few exhibition venues dedicated to the performing arts, drawing on its heritage collections to share the history of theatre and, in particular, that of Jean Vilar and popular theatre.
Opened in 2018 in one of the town’s oldest buildings, the Grenier à sel offers a multidisciplinary programme in the fields of visual and performing arts, exploring the intersections between art, science and technology.
