Where can I study in peace and quiet?

The Avignon Bibliothèques network welcomes you to one of its 6 libraries. Within the city centre, you can go to the Ceccano Library. Avignon’s libraries give you access to :

  • a large catalogue of books, comics, newspapers, CDs and digital resources
  • computer workstations, internet access and a printer
  • one of the largest heritage collections in the south of France at the Ceccano Library
Did you know?

For the record, the library has been housed since the 1980s in this building, which was originally a cardinal’s palace built when Avignon was a religious, cultural and artistic capital in the 14th century. The library is named after the influential cardinal Annibal Ceccano!
Open your eyes wide and you’ll admire the remarkably well-preserved wall decorations and painted ceilings from this period.

A number of grocery shops, particularly in the historic centre, sell fruit and vegetablesand other essentials. Avignon also has several farmers’ markets.

The Stade Nautique has a 50m Nordic Olympic pool heated to 29°C, ideal for year-round swimming, a diving pool and a leisure pool. Avignon also has a number of swimming pools.
