Description
Each year, the museum invites a European curator to participate in a 4- to 6-month residency. At the end of this period of research and immersion, the curator’s questions, reflections, and commitments give rise to an exhibition.
Organized by Bruno Marchand (born in 1978 in Portugal), deputy director of the MAAT—Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology, this exhibition marks the culmination of the first edition of this international program, carried out in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Over the past few decades, few concepts have permeated the field of contemporary art with as much persistence as the ideas of repetition, variation, and difference. A Brief History of the Same sets out to explore the many facets of this theme through a vast collection of paintings, sculptures, films, drawings, photographs, and graphic works produced from the 1960s to the present day.
Opening reception on Thursday, November 5.
