Temple Saint-Martial

Founded in the 14th century as a Benedictine monastery-college of the Cluny Order, the church was completed in 1388. Expansions were carried out in the 17th century. It was deconsecrated during the Revolution. The building housed the Calvet Museum until the early 19th century, then served as the Natural History Museum, the Normal School for Elementary Teachers, the Post Office, and the Tourist Office. A Protestant congregation was established there in 1881. Self-guided tours are available on Wednesdays without an appointment. See the historical brochure for the Saint-Martial church below.
