Description
To offer a fresh perspective on the permanent collection housed in Avignon, the Lambert Collection is keeping the Hôtel de Caumont open continuously.
The galleries now host solo exhibitions by artists or highlight key periods in the collection and the history of contemporary art through a rotation that takes place throughout the year. Current developments in the art world in France and abroad, along with encounters with artists from all disciplines, provide the impetus for these frequent changes in the gallery layout.
Each of these recurring events highlights the full richness of this Avignon collection—unique in Europe—and breathes new life into it, fueling an ever-renewed curiosity about the Lambert Collection and its masterpieces, which are constantly worth revisiting.
This fall, the Avignon institution is honoring two artists who were part of a decisive moment in Yvon Lambert’s career, when, in the mid-1960s, he affirmed his commitment to the American and Anglo-Saxon art scenes, which were still largely unknown in France at the time: Richard Tuttle, *The Delicacy of the World*, and Richard Long, *Beyond the Landscape*.
