Description
Chicago Today! is a brand-new event at AJMi that showcases the Chicago music scene.
These two-part evenings feature a discussion between musicians from the Chicago scene and Alexandre Pierrepont, an anthropologist and director of the Franco-American exchange program The Bridge, followed by a concert. This first installment will be an opportunity to explore the long-standing collaboration between the Chicago music scene and European scenes, and how connections are forged even where borders exist.
Dial Up, the trio composed of Dave Rempis, Chris Corsano, and Jason Adasiewicz, offers a sensitive, powerful, and collaborative approach to improvisation. Melodies burst forth like beams of light, with all their spontaneity and contrasts. This trio of prolific musicians from the Chicago scene—recognized worldwide—presents intuitive music where unbridled improvisations feel like a shot of caffeine or a roller coaster ride.
A discussion with Dave Rempis, Alexandre Pierrepont, and Antoine de La Roncière at 6 p.m., followed by a concert by the Rempis/Adasiewicz/Corsano trio at 7 p.m.
