Avignon Marathon

The premier distance in road running is coming to the Vaucluse in 2026! A wonderful celebration is in store for all running enthusiasts, who will have the chance to test themselves against this marathon-length course in the heart of the City of the Popes. A fast-paced course designed for peak performance will offer magnificent views of the Vaucluse city’s historic landmarks, such as the Palais des Papes and the Pont d’Avignon. These fast courses will offer participants magnificent views, passing by some of Avignon’s most beautiful landmarks. Half-Marathon Start: In front of the Gare Centre station – Boulevard Saint-Roch Finish: Île de la Barthelasse – Chemin des Berges A 21.095 km loop with approximately 60 meters of elevation gain, starting in the heart of Avignon before heading toward Europe’s largest river island: Île de la Barthelasse. The Palais des Papes, city walls, City Hall, Opera House, and the Avignon Bridge will all be highlights of this fast-paced and scenic route. Marathon Start: In front of the Gare Centre – Boulevard Saint-Roch Finish: Île de la Barthelasse – Chemin des Berges A 42.195-km loop with approximately 80 meters of elevation gain, starting in the heart of Avignon before heading toward Europe’s largest river island: Île de la Barthelasse. The Palais des Papes, city walls, City Hall, Opera House, and the Avignon Bridge will all be highlights of this course, which is both fast-paced and scenic.
