The premier distance in road running is coming to Vaucluse in 2026!
A wonderful celebration is in store for all running enthusiasts, who will have the chance to test themselves against this marathon-length course in the heart of the City of the Popes.
A fast, performance-friendly course that offers magnificent views of the Vaucluse city’s historic landmarks, such as the Palais des Papes and the Pont d’Avignon.

Two race formats are on the program: the half-marathon and the marathon. These fast courses will offer participants magnificent views, passing by the most beautiful monuments in the city of Avignon.
Half Marathon
Start: In front of the Gare Centre station—Bd Saint-Roch at 8:00 a.m.
Finish: Île de la Barthelasse—Recreation Center, scheduled for around 9:10 a.m.
A 21.095 km loop with approximately 60 meters of elevation gain, starting in the heart of Avignon before heading toward Europe’s largest river island: Île de la Barthelasse. The Palais des Papes, city walls, City Hall, Opera House, and Avignon Bridge will all be part of this route, which is both fast-paced and scenic.
Marathon
Start: In front of the Gare Centre station—Bd Saint-Roch at 9:00 a.m.
Finish: Île de la Barthelasse—Leisure Center, scheduled for around 11:15 a.m.
A 42.195 km loop with approximately 80 meters of elevation gain, starting in the heart of Avignon before heading toward Europe’s largest river island: Barthelasse Island. The Palais des Papes, the city walls, City Hall, the Opera House, and the Avignon Bridge will all be highlights of this route, which is both fast-paced and scenic.
