Description
"Strategies for Filling a Void" brings together works by young artists who recently graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts d’Avignon in an exhibition that marks an important milestone in their careers.
Presented in the former Cordeliers Church, an exceptional venue made available by the City of Avignon, this exhibition reflects the City’s invaluable support for emerging contemporary artists. For these artists, it represents a first step toward professionalization, offering them the opportunity to present their work to the public on an ambitious scale. Through a variety of practices and media, the participating artists explore gaps, flaws, spaces of uncertainty, and the possibilities these open up. Their works offer a range of sensitive strategies for inhabiting the world, questioning it, and reinventing it. This event also takes place against the unique backdrop of July in Avignon, echoing the artistic buzz generated by the Avignon Festival and the presence of audiences from around the world.
It affirms the essential role of contemporary creation in public discourse and in the development of critical perspectives on our era.
At a time when artistic freedom and freedom of expression are sometimes being challenged or censored in various parts of the world, supporting emerging artists is a major cultural and civic act.
The exhibition brings together works by Ayla Aktan, Candice Carpentier, Hyeonbin Lim, Marie-Garance Massal, Clémence Petit, and Louise Plasterie, with the participation of Margot Hermin to be confirmed.
“Strategies for Filling a Void” thus invites the public to discover a new generation of artists and to share, in the heart of Avignon, a moment of creativity, dialogue, and cultural democracy.
