Practical information

In the “Accessibility and comfort”guide, you’ll find a selection of establishments that are accessible to people with disabilities.

To optimise the visiting and daily living conditions of its residents and visitors, the city of Avignon is reorganising a large part of its city centre, by pedestrianising the streets in the hypercentre in particular, and by renovating the major thoroughfares; podotactile strips at pedestrian crossings and signposts adapted for the visually impaired/ blind, pavements with a 10% gradient to make it easier for PRMs to pass, etc.

Greater Avignon’s transport network hasaround thirty buses and shuttles within the city walls equipped for PRMs, with audible and visual signals for the 3 other disabilities.

Orizen is a service thatpicks up people with disabilities as close as possible to their home and takes them to their destination.

The river shuttle, which runs in season only, is wheelchair accessible with assistance.
Good to know: the river shuttle does not have an access ramp.

Open-air PRM parking is free for holders of the European Disabled Person’s Parking Card, and is limited to a maximum of 12 hours. There are around a hundred parking spaces in the inner city, signposted and marked on the ground.

There are two spaces in the immediate vicinity of the Tourist Office and a reserved parking space in front of the Tourist Office, 41 cours Jean Jaurès: 6 metres from the entrance to the Tourist Office building, on a level path.

People with reduced mobility who have the CMI Stationnement can park in reserved spaces or in non-dedicated spaces, provided that their Mobility Inclusion Card (parking) remains visible to ticket inspectors and that they have taken out a free parking ticket at a pay and display machine or on the Pay by Phone application.
The spaces are accessible until 11am. After 11am, access to the city centre is restricted. To obtain a right of access, please contact CIRAPS in advance on +33 (0)4 90 80 83 83 or by e-mail at ciraps@mairie-avignon.com.

People with reduced mobility can register with CIRAPS to benefit from the best parking conditions:https://avignon.e-habitants.com/login

Outside the ramparts, there are 2 free open-air car parks, each with around ten spaces, and a free shuttle service: the Piot Island and Italians car parks.
