Description

In this production inspired by *Othello*, *Macbeth*, and *Falstaff*, Monica Casadei finds a choreographic thread that captures the very essence of greed, the unbridled desire for power, and the deception that distorts the meaning of things.
After spending years exploring, through movement, the world of Puccini and Verdi’s heroines, she is now turning her attention to male characters, and in *Verdi/Shakespeare* —Trilogy of Lust—Othello, Macbeth, and Falstaff take center stage in her choreographic vision. The result is a dance journey navigating unbridled desires and the labyrinths of the mind, set to the original musical score composed by Fabio Fiandrini, in which famous Verdi arias—true compasses for the protagonists’ feelings and thoughts—are interwoven. The dancers of Artemis and the actor bring to life on stage the “poetic voice” of these two giants of music and theater, allowing the protagonists’ obsessions, emotions, remorse, and repentance to resonate through their bodies: the lust that consumes Othello and Macbeth, the vanity that deceives Falstaff—and which, taking on new forms, continues to resurface even in our present day. A performance presented as part of Italian Week.
