Throughout the year, the Festival d'Avignon organizes nearly 300 events with free admission: readings and meetings punctuate the rich program of shows.
- Encounters: Le Café des idées at the Cloître Saint-Louis
Every day, a place where leading figures in literature, the performing arts and research speak out and reflect. Debates, conferences, workshops and broadcasts punctuate this place, which embodies the spirit of the Festival d'Avignon: a space for sharing and discovery, open to all.
- Cycle of readings: Ça va ça va le monde! in the courtyard of the Musée Calvet
In a world riven by war, crisis and violence, the world's literature, and theater in particular, cannot remain voiceless. Since 2013, Ça va, ça va le monde! has been giving a voice to French-language dramatic writing from Africa, the Caribbean and the Arab world. Through RFI's cycle of readings, these texts rooted in the social and political realities of their territories find a space to resonate and share.
- Cycle of readings: Fictions France Culture in the courtyard of the Musée Calvet
Every summer, France Culture takes over the courtyard of the Musée Calvet for a week of readings, poetry, thought and creation. In keeping with the Festival d'Avignon program, this year's edition honors Arabic culture and language, its literature and musicality. Great actresses and actors will lend their voices to emblematic texts, accompanied by authors, poets, musicians and artists invited for the occasion. Novelist Leïla Slimani will be the special guest of this edition, which reaffirms France Culture's commitment to creativity.
- Cycle of readings: Le Souffle d'Avignon July 8 + 10-13 + 15-19 in the gardens of the Palais des Papes
This cycle of readings puts the spotlight on contemporary theatrical voices, offering authors a privileged space to present their often unpublished texts. These readings in the presence of the authors invite you to discover contemporary writing in a historic and symbolic setting, the birthplace of the Avignon Festival.
- Partnership with libraries: children's stories based on Korean culture.
- Free events at the Maison Jean Vilar:
* Les belles heures des auteurs: July 10, 11
This unique event invites you to discover today's theater and plunge into the rich imaginations of its authors.
* Retour sur images screenings with Arte: July 7, 14
ARTE and the Maison Jean Vilar invite you to (re)experience the history and present of the Festival d'Avignon, up close to the artists and the creative process, with a selection of archives followed by meetings with choreographers Mathilde Monnier and Boris Charmatz and historian Patrick Boucheron.
