What if the Opera left its walls behind to transform Avignon into a true open-air stage? That’s the spirit behind *Sur la place, chacun chante*—a lyrical stroll during which residents and artists will join their voices in the city’s streets.
It’s not every day you turn 200! To celebrate its bicentennial, the Opéra Grand Avignon invites you to join in a street celebration titled “Everyone Sings in the Square – Carmen Parade,” a grand procession.
This Saturday, September 19, starting at 3 p.m., the Opera’s artists, the Chorus and Children’s Choir, a banda, and participants will fill the streets of Avignon with Bizet’s greatest arias.
From “La Habanera” to “Le Toréador,” along with many other arias, the parade will move from square to square until the grand finale at the Place du Palais des Papes. Nothing less.
And since Carmen loves freedom and love is a bohemian child that no one can tame, come as you are… or in costume!
