VILLENEUVE-LEZ-AVIGNON

Moulin Bronzini, discover the secrets of green gold

Decidedly, we are in the 14th century, in 1358, the Popes are in Avignon during the Great Schism of Europe.

Pope Innocent VI gives his blessing to the Carthusian Order to settle in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon. The Chartreux Fathers built the Chartreuse of the Val de Bénédiction and installed a wall to protect part of their orchard, windmill and … their Olive Oil Mill.

The Chartreux Fathers are the first to grind olives on Villeneuve-lez-Avignon and to produce a significant amount of olive oil.

For more than 650 years, the Moulin de la Chartreuse has always been active, except during the French Revolution: the Terres de l’Eglise are requisitioned and the production was interrupted twenty

year before being taken over by private families. The Moulin de la Chartreuse is thus one of the oldest in France in activity and registered in the Historical Heritage of France since 2009.

Nowadays

Managed successively by the families David, Canonge and Bertaud, it is during the retirement of the latter that Philippe BRONZINI took over the Moulin de la Chartreuse in June 2008.

Passionate about olive oil and olive trees, Philippe BRONZINI brings a new life to the mill by modernizing it and developing new cuvées, as subtle and tasty as each other.

Adjoining the Mill, located in the vaulted rooms of the old kitchens and stables of the Chartreuse, the Boutiques du Moulin offer, alongside Extra Virgin Olive Oil, a selection of regional products, decorative objects, accessories and cosmetics .

Every day, visits and tastings are organized at the Moulin de la Chartreuse.
