In Avignon, we dive in, we dive in!

With summer just around the corner and the heat setting in, I want to cool off and take a dip. But I don’t want to drive for miles and I don’t like itchy sand, so I opt for the swimming pool option, which is a sure-fire way to have a good time. Fancy a dip in the water between two heritage visits or two shows at the famous Festival? Avignon has a number of swimming pools waiting for you to take the plunge, to the delight of young and old alike.

The nautical stadium

Ideal for families!

This emblematic city facility, listed as a remarkable 20th-century heritage site, recently reopened after a facelift. It’s very easy to get to, just 5 minutes by tram from the city centre, and has 3 outdoor pools: an Olympic and Nordic pool with water at 29°C, where you can swim all year round – I particularly recommend you try it in the middle of winter, it does you a world of good! – a diving pool and a fun pool. It’s a children’s paradise: my little boy is a big fan of the paddling pool, the slide and the water games.

Stade nautique d'Avignon

Looking to recharge your batteries and switch off? Inside, there’s a 530 m2 ‘wellness’ area for hammam, sauna and jacuzzi enthusiasts. For the more motivated, there’s a fitness room with weight machines. So you can easily spend the day here, and there’s even a restaurant on site.
