C.W. Gluck's opera Orfeo ed Euridice (first performed in Vienna in 1762) will be performed in its entirety by 3 solo singers, a female dancer, the chorus (around 20 singers) and the orchestra (around 20 musicians).
It's an opera in three acts depicting the story of the poet Orpheus, authorized to fetch his dead wife, Eurydice, from the underworld, on the sole condition that he will not turn to look at her until he has returned with her to the living.
