Avignon in July... a festival!
From the Festival d’Avignon created in 1947 by Jean Vilar, to the bubbling OFF, via Villeneuve en Scène, not a patch of land vibrates to the sound of applause. In July, the world is a stage.

It’s swinging, grooving, singing and beating in Avignon! Are you into electro, jazz, baroque or gospel? There’s bound to be a festival for you.
Avignon, MY city, is famous the world over for 3 things: the Palais des Papes, the Pont d’Avignon and the Festival, one of the most important international events in contemporary performing arts. Every summer, for 3 weeks, I see my city transformed into the world’s largest theater! I’m a big fan of dance and theater, and I love this unique atmosphere: the city is plastered with posters of shows! Walls, store windows, lampposts, benches… everything is covered in incredible chaos.
Every winter, Avignon comes alive with dance! With Les Hivernales, the city and its surroundings become an essential stage for this contemporary physical expression.
Cinema, video, contemporary art, comics… all art forms flourish in Avignon.
