In Spirit is pianist Betty Hovette's new trio. In this tribute to American pianist Don Pullen, the idea is not to rework his compositions, but rather to draw inspiration from the free spirit of his piano.
The trio performs a profoundly contemporary repertoire in which improvisation plays a major role. The music unfolds organically on stage, exalted at times, with tense melodies that are suddenly released in beautiful instrumental textures.
