Conceived by Yvan Loiseau, LA PLUS GRANDE TABLE DU MONDE is an invitation to all the world's inhabitants to come and celebrate encounters through cuisine.
It's a crazy project, created to showcase French people and recipes, and to demonstrate French solidarity to the world. It's a counterpoint to the times we're living through, a mad desire to get together, to continue living, to give meaning to our lives, for all generations.
It has existed since 2020, with 35 giant tables that broke a Guinness Book world record in 2022.
For several months now, the Curieux Banquet team has been running cooking and writing workshops with Avignon's social centers, associations, theaters and restaurants, with the aim of co-constructing this project, so that everyone can find their place in it. Many of Avignon's restaurants (La Mirande, Le Fenouil à Vapeur, Christian Étienne, Pollen, La Maison de la tour, L'Auberge des Fines roches in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Première Edition and many others) are also present, offering free tastings of their cuisine, which doesn't mean you have to come with your hands in your pockets. It's a shared meal, with everyone bringing something to eat, and their own plate and gourd!
A cultural program also takes place after lunch, from 2pm to 4:30pm.
On September 14, we'll be taking down the city walls, and eating off them. Join us for this extraordinary event!
This national event is sponsored in 2025 by Jean Pascal Zadi and Emmanuelle Jary.
No reservation necessary, alcohol prohibited.
