Today, the old bourgeois residence bears his name. In the 18th century, by a "Royal Decree", the Consuls and Magistrates of Roquemaure identified the barrels by stamping the letters C.D.R. ("Coste du Rhône"). They issued "Certificats d'Origine" to producers, giving rise to the current appellation. The wines of Château de Bouchassy were born of the Degoul family's passion, their desire to innovate and create unique tastes based on fundamental values: tradition, authenticity and quality.
From generation to generation, the Degoul family has cultivated the knowledge of the land. Rigorous know-how and quality terroir make Château de Bouchassy one of the pillars of the Lirac appellation. It was in 1973 that great-grandfather Lucien DEGOUL and his son Robert acquired the 28-hectare vineyard.
Grandson Gérard DEGOUL, an oenologist by training, planned to market the Château's wine in bottles. Success was guaranteed: in 1978, his first cuvée was awarded the Gold Medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris. Through his commitment and passion, he was one of the pioneers of the LIRAC appellation, fervently promoting this three-color Crû.
Since 2010, his wife and children Nicolas and Marie-Cécile have taken over the reins of the estate, lovingly carrying on the family tradition.
After several decades of working with integrated farming methods, and because respecting our environment is a major concern at the heart of our estate, we have begun the process of converting to organic farming in 2021 via Ecocert certification.
We no longer use any chemical herbicides. We work the soil with mechanized tools to weed the vines naturally. We use organic fertilizers exclusively. Tasting and sales cellar open Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 7pm. Weekends by telephone reservation. Click & collect possible (reservation by e-mail or telephone).
