In this year of commemoration of the centenary of the Armenian genocide perpetrated by Turkey, Onap remembers and brings people together in a concert featuring the music of two leading figures in Armenian and Turkish music.
Fazil Say's "Adagio" invites us to discover the Ankara-born pianist's talent as a composer, while Aram Khatchatourian's "Cello Concerto in E minor" distills a message of peace under the fingers of cellist Astrig Siranossian. Mediator Johannes Brahms watches over these two pieces with his monumental "First Symphony", the German's reconciliation with a musical genre that frightened him for many years due to the intimidating legacy of his role model: Beethoven.
