Love, drama and betrayal in Sicily: Leonardo García Alarcón and his Cappella Mediterranea reinvent the Baroque art of pastiche.
Blending masterpieces by Lassus, Scarlatti and d'India with popular tarantellas and anonymous songs, they recreate the raw emotion of an imaginary opera around Cecilia, the heroine whose tragic destiny is brought to life by a Calabrian song.
