Sean Scully - Arles Nacht Vincent, gift from the artist to the Collection Lambert

The Arles Nacht Vincent triptych displayed this summer among a selection of other works will now become part of the exceptional collection of works kept in Avignon.

Sean Scully (born 30 June 1945) is an American artist of Irish origin, who works as painter, engraver, sculptor and photographer. His work can be seen in museums the world over, and he has twice been nominated for the Turner prize.

When Sean Scully moved to New York from London in 1975, he shifted the paradigm of minimalist abstraction toward emotional abstraction in painting, abandoning the formal vocabulary of the former in preference for a return to metaphor and spirituality in art.
