Louise Lawler - Grand Arles Express (Les Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles)

For the first time in the history of the Collection Lambert, the museum displays the entire set of photographs and installations - 21 photographs and 6 installations - present in its permanent collection stored in Avignon.
This unique group of works starts with some of the first photographs from the early 1980s; it continues with a series of engraved glasses on shelves and concludes with a series of pictures taken in the very space of the Collection Lambert and in the collector's home, the day following the terrorist attack the World Trade Center in New York, when Louise Lawler found herself stuck in France.
In movement that unmistakably blends the political with the sensitive, the artist shows how different presentation contexts and installation devices have a subtle influence on our understanding of the works we encounter.
