    Wednesday June 19 :
    - 5.45pm - Plaine des sports: departure of the flame.
37 torchbearers will take it in turns to carry the flame along a 7.6-kilometer route, first via the Charles de Gaulle ring road to the ramparts and the inner city, then up Cours Jean Jaurès and Rue de la République, past the Popes' Palace, the Jardin des Doms and finally the Pont Saint-Bénezet (Avignon bridge).
There'll be plenty of entertainment all day long: cross fit, BMX, draisienne, tennis, soccer, rugby, handi-rugby, rugby à XIII, judo, basketball, archery, table tennis, boccia, climbing and even triathlon for the sports part. Culture will not be forgotten, with graffiti, street art, DJ music, a TOONS photo exhibition, web radio and a video project by the Children's Municipal Council.

Several other sites around Avignon will be buzzing with Olympic excitement:

Bibliothèque Barrault: cultural events with a parade of residents from the Institut Alizarine, an exhibition by the Comité Départemental Olympique et Sportif (CDOS) on "Fair-Play", a cultural Olympiad, the Ideasbox mobile and its fun and creative materials, as well as the presence of the Amnesty International association.

Square Indochine: musical show with tightrope walkers and trapeze by Le Tootem, concert by the group Doozic and their pop-rock covers. The Saint-Roch and Perrin schools will liven up the square with music and colorful banners.
Downtown SNCF station square: BMX show with Team Starlight Stunt Show, VTT Trial with the Farfadets team and Parkour.

In the town center, the Oumpack batucada will be playing Brazilian percussion, while shopkeepers in the Rue de la Carreterie and Place des Carmes will have decorated their boutiques. The Comité Départemental Olympique et Sportif (CDOS) will be staging a number of exhibitions on the history of the Olympic Games in the town hall. Museums, the Tourist Office, the Opera House and the Théâtre du Balcon will be enriching the program for the day (and also in advance).

Place du Petit Palais: tumbling and freestyle soccer shows by the Renaud/Sixtine duo. Mega Rires will be offering its fun and wacky bikes for those who want to try them out.

On the Rhône, the Société Nautique d'Avignon rowing club will parade its boats. The Jeune Canoë Kayak Avignonnais club will put on a kayak polo exhibition between Pont Saint-Bénezet and Pont Daladier.

On the "celebration site", an Olympic village, open to all from 3.30pm: demonstrations (acrobatic basketball, trampoline and break-dance). Stands for the Département de Vaucluse, Ville d'Avignon, Région Sud PACA and COJOP Paris 2024.
